Do you have a project?

By integrating our CMMS with SAGE X3, Bariatrix Nutrition Canada is more able to control costs and improve the efficiency of maintenance tasks.

bariatrix nutrition company

Since 1978, Bariatrix Nutrition has been an industry leader in the production of protein-rich foods and supplements for medically monitored weight loss programs. To ensure the sustainability of its newest installations and guarantee operational condition (reliability, availability, safety) of its equipment, BARIATRIX Nutrition, Canada, has elected to deploy the CMMS DimoMaint solution.

A need to organize the tasks of the maintenance team

bariatrix production line

There were many issues at Bariatrix: the group had 4 production lines running simultaneously and noticed inefficiencies in its management process, including, for example, the lack of an explicit method to generate work orders for its operation and maintenance staff.

Furthermore, the maintenance staff had no clear way of knowing which task needed to be completed. “We had entire lists of our spare parts, but they weren’t interactive or integrated with our ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. No one knew exactly what to do or how to check completed work. As a result, the business was not optimized and, in some instances, was even slowed down.

DimoMaint, a perfectly adapted CMMS solution integrated with SAGE ERP X3

Bariatrix decided to enrich its existing ERP system with CMMS functionalities. The objective was to improve the reliability and efficiency of its maintenance activity through the implementation of better maintenance practices, including a better preventive maintenance strategy to enhance on-site productivity.

A simple and ergonomic CMMS

The simplicity and ergonomics of the DimoMaint solution, as well as the business expertise of our teams, appealed to the Bariatrix Nutrition project team:

The native integration of the DimoMaint CMMS with Sage X3 circumvented the need for our teams to re-enter data, and eliminated the risk of errors between commercial management and the CMMS. Decisions from commercial management regarding replenishment threshold, order units, main supplier, etc. are applied in the CMMS at each step of the inventory and purchase management processes. Finally, equipment, stock, and supplier repositories from Sage X3 will be synchronized with the CMMS,” explains Benoît Desrochers, the company’s IT Director.

As a result of this integration:

  • time was saved for maintenance teams because there was no need to re-enter data;
  • data errors were eliminated between the commercial management and the CMMS;
  • the CMMS solution’s user-friendliness allowed the maintenance teams to get up to speed quickly.

A comprehensive maintenance solution for the efficient control of maintenance activity

Cost control used to be unsatisfying in the management of spare parts inventory, which includes some of the most important assets of a company. Thanks to the DimoMaint CMMS, Bariatrix was able to implement efficient inventory management methods.

As Mr. Ladouceur points out, better control over maintenance activities is a key factor for success. “We wanted to be able to control what was going on in our company, be it regarding costs, spare parts, work orders… everything. That was the primary goal of the project.

CMMS reduce costs

While the return on investment is not yet measurable, Bariatrix’s efficiency in operations, logistics, and maintenance has already increased remarkably. Consequently, the company expects to soon achieve a positive ROI.

Indeed, as Mr. Ladouceur states. “Everything is now more efficient! This inevitably translates into cost savings for us.

A user-friendly and scalable CMMS for all maintenance-related services

For the maintenance department, the benefits of implementing the CMMS were immediate. In particular, it now allows the maintenance team to:

  • create work orders;
  • plan maintenance tasks;
  • identify and precisely describe issues with the equipment;
  • assign a specific worker for a job and ensure that all necessary parts are available.

The speed and quality of information transmission within the CMMS also allow both management and inventory departments to be immediately informed as soon as a maintenance task has been completed.

Finally, the finance department can now be an integral part of the projects, in particular thanks to the historical data stored in the CMMS, which facilitates work related to audits.

The CMMS needed to be scalable, as Mr. Ladouceur explains. “It is important that the CMMS system be both modular and scalable so that it perfectly integrates with any future expansion.
